Be Wiser Charity Race Day earns over £2,000 for MacMillan Cancer Support

06/29/2015

On Thursday 11th June, Be Wiser Insurance hosted its 9th annual Charity Race Day at Newbury Racecourse and raised over £2,000 for MacMillan Cancer Support, the company’s official charity partner for 2015.

This annual event provides Be Wiser with the opportunity to invite over 140 guests from their key suppliers and partners - including insurance companies, advertising agencies, telephone and IT suppliers -  who are hosted by the directors and senior staff of Be Wiser.

Be Wiser has been a proud sponsor of Newbury Racecourse for over 9 years and recently sponsored the Be Wiser Spring Cup race on the 18th of April, won by Frankie Dettori on Ayaar (pictured).

The weather was fantastic throughout the charity day, which made for a perfect afternoon of racing.

All Be Wiser guests were provided with a betting voucher on arrival, which they were able to bet with throughout the course of the day, with all winnings going to Macmillan.

The Be Wiser Kawasaki British Superbikes Replica Display Bike was also in attendance manned by  crew chief, Chris Salmon. The bike couldn’t help but attract the attention of a number of high profile attendees, including jockeys Silvestre De Sousa and Jim Crowley (pictured below).

The winner of the BBC’s Apprentice, Mark Wright was also keen to have his photo taken on the bike. His digital marketing business, Climb Online were celebrating 6 months of working with Be Wiser.

Chairman of Be Wiser, Mark Bower-Dyke said:

“This is a great opportunity for us to say a big “thank you” to all our main suppliers by entertaining them to a day at the races. The event has grown from 100 people a few years ago to our now entertaining over 150 guests – many of whom have attended each year – and it is a widely anticipated date within the insurance marketplace.

We sponsored several races during the day, including races for amateur riders, which helps provide opportunities for young jockeys to hone their skills before they hopefully move to become professional jockeys. This is in keeping with one of the main Be Wiser ethos of investing and nurturing future talent.

Newbury Race Course always do a great job of looking after us on the day and we are always pleased to return each year.”
